Shimla, Sept. 10 -- The Himachal Pradesh Education Department has initiated the process to affiliate 229 government schools with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in line with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's Independence Day announcement to introduce CBSE curriculum in state-run schools from the academic year 2026-27.

In a formal communication to the State Government, the Directorate of School Education stated that the decision aims to provide students from government schools a level playing field in national-level competitive examinations such as JEE, NEET, NDA and others.
