Shimla, July 5 -- Himachal Pradesh's Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashray Yojana has provided a comprehensive social security framework for nearly 6,000 orphaned and vulnerable children by adopting them as "Children of the State" and extending support ranging from free education and financial assistance to housing, skill development and legal identity, the state government spokesperson said on Sunday.

The scheme, launched on February 28, 2023, aims to ensure long-term care and rehabilitation of orphaned and vulnerable children up to the age of 27 by enabling them to pursue education, acquire skills and become self-reliant, he added.
