Shimla, May 21 -- Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta on Thursday visited the Bhakra Dam in Bilaspur district and reviewed the operational status of the country's iconic hydroelectric and irrigation infrastructure.
During the visit to the Bhakra Dam, one of Asia's largest gravity dams built on the Sutlej River, the Governor was briefed on water storage levels, power generation capacity and ongoing maintenance work being carried out to ensure the dam's safety and efficient functioning.
Officials informed him about the dam's crucial role in supplying irrigation water, drinking water and hydroelectric power to several northern states.
