Shimla, March 17 -- Even as authorities maintain that there is no official shortfall of LPG, fuel or fertilisers in Himachal Pradesh, the situation on the ground is pointing to growing stress in supply chains, with shortages of commercial LPG, petroleum products and urea beginning to disrupt economic activity across several sectors in the hill state.

Reports from multiple districts indicate closure of small food outlets, dry petrol pumps and rising concern among farmers and orchardists over availability of essential inputs.

The hill state, which depends heavily on supplies transported from outside, appears to be witnessing cascading disruptions affecting agriculture, horticulture, transport and the hospitality sector.
