Shimla, April 23 -- The State Association of Medical and Dental College Teachers (SAMDCOT) has strongly opposed the Himachal Pradesh government's decision to bifurcate the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBG) by shifting the Gynaecology unit from Kamla Nehru Hospital (KNH) to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), terming the move "illogical and against established medical and academic principles."In a statement here on Thursday, the association said that OBG functions globally as a unified and integrated department, particularly in teaching institutions, where coordinated patient care and academic training are essential.
