Shimla, March 7 -- In a key decision aimed at streamlining stalled power projects, the Himachal Pradesh cabinet cancelled 15 hydroelectric projects that failed to take off despite being granted relief under the one-time amnesty scheme.

The cabinet also approved allotment of the 10 MW small hydroelectric project at Pandoh to the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB).

The decision was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet held in Shimla on Saturday, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

As part of the arrangement, the project will be allotted to BBMB subject to the return of unused land by the board to the state government.
