Bhubaneswar, Sept. 3 -- A nearly 60-foot-high Puja pandal erected barely 200 metres from the west dumbbell of the main runway and within the glide path of the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here has raised serious aviation safety concerns, heritage expert and INTACH Bhubaneswar convenor Anil Dhir said on Thursday.

Dhir said the towering structure stands less than 150 metres from the airport boundary and under 100 metres from the point where aircraft make their final descent towards the runway. At that stage, he said, landing aircraft would be flying at almost the same level as the height of the pandal.
