Shimla, March 30 -- Himachal Pradesh High court has directed the state government to release pending payments to private hospitals empanelled under a centrally funded health insurance scheme, including Ayushman and Himcare, observing that approved claims could not be withheld on the ground of fund constraints.

The bench of Justice Joytsana Rewal Dua, hearing a batch of petitions led by M/S Maatri Medicity and Orthocare Hospital vs State of H.P., recently noted that hospitals had already provided cashless treatment under the Himcare scheme and allied schemes, and their claims had been duly approved. Despite this, payments remained pending, causing financial strain on healthcare providers.
