Shimla, Nov. 22 -- The CBI, probing the alleged abetment to suicide of HPPCL Chief Engineer Vimal Negi, suffered yet another setback with the Himachal Pradesh High Court rejecting its plea seeking the removal of the State Government as a party to the proceedings.

A single bench of Justice Virender Singh, while delivering a 13-page order, dismissed the CBI's application (CrMP No. 4390 of 2025), holding that the presence of the State in the record of proceedings does not impede the ongoing investigation.

The order, passed in the bail matter of accused IAS officer Harikesh Meena, underscored that the CBI alone remains responsible for filing the status reports and conducting the probe.
