New Delhi, Sept. 11 -- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday said it was necessary to make Delhi free of child begging, adding that her government's priority was to bring children out of begging and connect them with education, skills and a dignified life.

Chairing a meeting of the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) on Friday, the CM directed the commission to strengthen the campaign to make the national capital free of child begging through public participation.

Gupta said that willing non-governmental organisations (NGOs), civil society organisations (CSOs) and resident welfare associations (RWAs) should be brought on board to expand the campaign's reach to children at the local level.
