Lucknow, Sept. 26 -- The situation in Uttar Pradesh is worsening due to heavy rain witnessed across the state for the past 46 hours. More than 16 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents.
Winds are blowing at speeds of 40-50 km/h. Roads have become ponds and rainwater has entered colonies. There is a threat of flash floods in 32 districts.
Roads have been blocked due to uprooted trees and poles, and several houses have collapsed.
According to IMD, in the last 24 hours, the state received 52.5 mm of rain, which is 25 times more than the normal 2.7 mm. Since June 1, 751.9 mm of rain has fallen, 2pc more than the quota. Normally, 738 mm of rain falls during this period.
