Hamirpur (HP), Jan. 23 -- Normal life in Hamirpur district has come to a near standstill as heavy rains lash the region since early morning, reducing visibility and shrouding the area in gloom.
After a three-month gap, the rains are seen as a boon for the sowing and growth of Rabi crops, according to a spokesperson from the Agriculture Department.
There was poor attendance in the primary schools as the parents preferred their wards not to go to schools due to continuous heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the temperature has fallen sharply, and people are forced to adorn heavy woolens to keep themselves safe from the wrath of the chilly winds sweeping across the region.
