Chennai, Nov. 30 -- Heavy rains lashed several parts of Tamil Nadu as the Cyclonic Storm Ditwahover the Bay came closer to the Chennai coast, even as the State government has put all the districtson high alert.
The Met office in its latest update issued a Red Alert for Tiruvallur and Ranipet districts and Orange alertfor many North and Interior disticts promising heavy rains.
It said the Cyclonic Storm Ditwah over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Tamil Nadu-Puducherrycoasts moved nearly northwards with the speed of 12 kmph during the past six hours and lay centered at0830 hrs of today, over the same region, about 100 km east-southeast of Cuddalore (India),100 km east-northeast of Karaikal (India), 110 km southeast of Puducherry...
