Panchkula, Aug. 3 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast an active monsoon spell across northwest India. Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab are likely to receive widespread rainfall till August 6.

Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and parts of Jammu & Kashmir are expected to witness heavy rainfall during the week, according to its morning weather bulletin issued on Sunday.

The IMD said fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab through August 6. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected on August 3 and 4. Rainfall activity will reduce thereafter, with only scattered showers forecast on August 7 and 8.
