Lucknow, Aug. 22 -- The monsoon remained active in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, with rain continuing for the seventh consecutive day in several districts, including Lucknow, as the Meteorological Department issued a rain alert for 66 districts and warned of heavy rainfall in 29 districts.
Despite the widespread rainfall, Uttar Pradesh received 16 per cent below its average rainfall for the monsoon season from June 1 to August 21. Against the required average of 525.7 mm, the state received 443.1 mm of rainfall during the period.
Heavy rain was recorded in five districts, including Prayagraj and Kaushambi, on Friday, while several parts of Lucknow received heavy showers in the evening.
