Kukke Subrahmanya (Karnataka), Aug. 25 -- Heavy rains have brought pilgrimage at Karnataka's famed Kukke Subrahmanya shrine to a standstill, with the Adi Subrahmanya temple submerged and access cut off as the swollen Kumaradhara river continued to surge in Dakshina Kannada.

The disruption has drawn attention to the pilgrimage centre, which has over the years attracted prominent personalities including superstar Rajinikanth, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and late Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar.
