Mumbai, July 20 -- Heavy overnight rainfall battered Mumbai and its suburbs on Monday, causing widespread waterlogging, disrupting road and suburban rail traffic, and prompting the temporary closure of the Andheri subway.
Civic officials said intense showers were reported from Bandra, Byculla, Mulund and several eastern and western suburbs, while parts of Navi Mumbai also experienced heavy rainfall.
Mulund recorded the highest rainfall at 160 mm, followed by Versova at 157 mm. Mankhurd, Powai, Bhandup, Marol and Oshiwara received more than 100 mm of rain each during the overnight spell. South Mumbai areas, including Colaba, Parel and Sion, witnessed light to moderate showers.
