Aizawl, June 7 -- Mizoram experienced an unusual spell of intense heat this week, with temperatures climbing to some of the highest levels recorded in recent years before the arrival of widespread monsoon rains across the state.
According to data maintained by the Aizawl Meteorological Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), southern Mizoram's Siaha district registered a scorching 35.8 degrees Celsius on Friday, making it one of the highest temperatures recorded in the state this season.
The prolonged spell of hot and humid weather was felt across several parts of Mizoram, including the state capital, where residents struggled to cope with unusually warm conditions during the first week of June.
