New Delhi, Dec. 23 -- : Ahead of the upcoming flu season, the union Health Ministry, in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), held a two-day deliberation that concluded on Tuesday to strengthen India's preparedness and response to seasonal influenza, which affects thousands every year.

In a video message at the inaugural session, union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda stressed the importance of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), a nationwide disease monitoring system launched in 2004. He underlined the need for stronger coordination between the Centre and states to ensure robust disease surveillance.
