Srinagar, Nov. 7 -- The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has upheld the Public Safety Act (PSA) of a Bandipora woman accused of being an admirer of a Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Arun Palli and Justice Rajnesh Oswal dismissed the appeal filed by Shaista Maqbool, who had challenged her December 2023 detention under Section 8 of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act.
Shaista was detained under the PSA on the ground that her activities were prejudicial to the security of the UT of J&K in 2023. She challenged her detention, but the court dismissed it on May 23, 2025.
