Bengaluru, July 8 -- In a significant observation with political ramifications, the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday questioned why sitting Congress MLA MC Sudhakar was not named an accused in a government land-grabbing case despite being an alleged beneficiary, even as it refused to quash criminal proceedings against his father and former minister MC Chowdareddy and ex-Chintamani Municipal Commissioner BH Narayanappa.
Justice M Nagaprasanna observed that the material placed before the Court prima facie indicated that Chowdareddy's sons, MC Balaji and MC Sudhakar, were direct beneficiaries of the alleged encroachment of government land, yet both were "conspicuously absent" from the list of accused.
