Chandigarh, Feb. 24 -- The Punjab and Haryana High Court has taken a stern view of the massive traffic congestion in the city caused by protesters attempting to lay siege to the Haryana Assembly.

The court took suo motu cognizance of the situation after several judges' vehicles were caught in the gridlock on Monday. In an immediate response to the administrative lapse, the court has summoned the Director General of Police (DGP) of Chandigarh to explain the breakdown of the traffic and security machinery.
