Chandigarh, Oct. 27 -- The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday imposed a cost of Rs 1 lakh on Punjab's Chief Secretary over the state government's failure to file its reply in a case concerning pending Dearness Allowance (DA) payments to government employees and pensioners.
During the hearing, the court expressed displeasure over the delay and directed the state government to submit its response before the next hearing, scheduled for November 3.
The case concerns demands by Punjab government employees and pensioners for the release of outstanding DA dues.
