Mumbai, Aug. 29 -- The Bombay High Court on Saturday orally observed that "not a single student should lose his or her life," while directing the Maharashtra government to ensure the safety and immediate medical care of tribal students who have been on hunger strike for the past 15 days over conditions in ashram schools across the state.
The direction was given by a division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ravindra V Ghuge and Justice Gautam A Ankhad during the hearing of a petition filed by Ashok Kavadu Meshram of Manjiri, Pune, seeking judicial intervention over alleged poor infrastructure, safety concerns and pending grievances at state-run tribal hostels.
