Amravati, Aug. 17 -- : An unusual situation has gripped a government-run tribal residential school in Maharashtra's Amravati district, where around 600 of its 810 students have reportedly left the hostel amid rumours that some girl students were under the influence of supernatural forces, sources said on Monday.

The incident occurred at the tribal residential school in Doma village of Chikhaldara tehsil in the tribal-dominated Melghat region.

According to sources, the incident began on July 22 when four girl students allegedly started behaving strangely and began crying and laughing uncontrollably.
