Panchkula, Aug. 1 -- Haryana's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has uncovered large-scale discrepancies in more than 33.84 lakh voter records, accounting for nearly 16.4 per cent of the state's nearly 2 crore registered electors, prompting the Election Department to initiate one of the biggest voter verification exercises in recent years.
According to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), the verification drive found that 23.11 lakh voters were not available at their registered addresses. Of these, 13.75 lakh were found to have permanently shifted, while 9.36 lakh were unavailable during field verification.
