Haryana transport department assistant caught taking Rs 2 lakh bribe

Panchkula, Sept. 23 -- The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) has arrested an assistant posted with the state transport department in Chandigarh for allegedly accepting a Rs 2 lakh bribe from a transporter, a spokesman said here on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as Kishori Kumar, was caught red-handed by the Bureau's Bhiwani sub-centre team while allegedly accepting Rs 2 lakh in cash from the complainant in the presence of independent witnesses, the spokesman said.

According to the Bureau, the complainant is engaged in the transport business and wishes to set up a facility in Panipat to issue and renew fitness certificates for transport vehicles under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and the Central Motor Vehicle...
