Chandigarh, Sept. 5 -- A month-long strike by Haryana sanitation workers turned confrontational in Faridabad on Saturday as a union leader climbed onto a vehicle in Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel's escort convoy and hundreds of protesters waved brooms outside his office, accusing the government of failing to implement agreements reached with them earlier this year.
Police barricaded the entrance to Goel's Sector 16 office as the workers gathered on the 31st day of their strike. union president Balbir Singh climbed onto the escort Scorpio, took a microphone and led chants of "Halla Bol" before police persuaded him to come down.
The protest continued after he left the vehicle.
