Panchkula, Aug. 31 -- Haryana recorded 47,370 road accidents and 21,996 deaths from 2019 through July 2026, with nearly eight people losing their lives every day in accidents on state highways and district roads during the period.
Between 2019 and 2025, the state recorded 43,549 accidents and 20,155 deaths. The addition of 3,821 accidents and 1,841 deaths recorded up to July 2026 takes the cumulative figures to 47,370 accidents and 21,996 deaths.
The 2026 figures are particularly concerning. During the first seven months of the year, 3,821 accidents left 1,841 people dead and 3,109 injured. This translates into an average of about 18 accidents and nearly nine deaths every day during January-July 2026.
