Chandigarh, May 4 -- : A grim tragedy struck the Haryana Civil Secretariat on Monday when an employee of the state's power corporation allegedly ended his life by jumping from the eighth floor of the high-security complex. The deceased, identified as Balwant Singh, was a resident of Panchkula and was serving in the electricity department.
Official records indicate that Singh had entered the Secretariat premises on Monday morning after obtaining a visitor's pass. In his request, he had mentioned official work as the purpose of his visit, specifically intended to meet with the Controller of Accounts at the Haryana Power Generation Corporation, which is located on the fifth floor of the building.
