Panchkula, Aug. 20 -- Haryana Police has stepped up its technology-driven crackdown on cybercrime, fake digital identities and misleading online content, with its dedicated Social Media Monitoring and URL Blocking team facilitating the removal of 16,308 illegal online content items between January and July 2026.

The action covers fake websites, phishing links, fraudulent applications, misleading advertisements, fake profiles and other unlawful digital content identified through continuous monitoring of social media platforms and the wider internet. The move signals a more aggressive shift from conventional cybercrime response towards real-time digital surveillance and preventive intervention.
