Chandigarh, Nov. 20 -- Haryana Police is gearing up to create a standalone Anti-Terror Cell aimed at tightening security around Delhi and tracking emerging extremist networks. The proposal, which had been awaiting clearance from the state's Home Department, is now being fast-tracked after authorities uncovered a suspected terror link involving educated individuals, including medical practitioners, linked to the Red Fort blast.
Currently, inputs on terror activities are collected by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The new unit will not only handle surveillance and intelligence but will also execute raids, probe suspects and run counter-terror operations independently.
