Panchkula, Aug. 4 -- Haryana recorded the highest number of companies with women directors among northern states and union territories over the past three financial years, according to data presented in the Lok Sabha by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

The data also indicate significant numbers in Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh.

Replying to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, the Government said that under Section 149 of the Companies Act, 2013, specified listed companies and certain public companies are required to appoint at least one woman director on their Board.
