Chandigarh, Sept. 6 -- Relentless rains and overflowing rivers have inundated 2,748 villages across Haryana, with the Yamuna and Markanda rivers flowing above danger levels and the Ghaggar River breaching its banks in multiple districts.

The crisis has caused widespread disruption, submerging homes and farmland. In Faridabad, the Yamuna River was recorded at 2,26,433 cusecs at 8 am today, hovering at the danger mark, with 12 villages and 270 homes fully submerged.

In Kurukshetra, the Markanda continues to flow above its danger level, exacerbating flooding in low-lying areas. The Ghaggar has worsened the situation in Kaithal and Sirsa, with water levels in Kaithal reaching 23.6 feet six inches above the danger mark spilling into fields.
