Pachkula, Oct. 22 -- Haryana's Higher Education Department has directed government college principals to scrutinise passport no-objection certificate applications from teaching staff before forwarding them, citing delays caused by incomplete documents and inadequate examination at the college level.
In a circular, the Director General, Higher Education, prescribed a five-point checklist for processing cases involving professors, associate professors, and assistant professors in government colleges across the state.
The department said applications were reaching its office "without proper examination of the case at the level of the Principal and with incomplete documents", resulting in unnecessary correspondence and delays.
