Chandigarh, Oct. 16 -- Haryana has delivered a major boost to its fish and shrimp farmers, bringing their electricity down to just 10 paise per unit and lining up a series of new labs, hatchery upgrades and fish markets, Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare and Fisheries Minister Shyam Singh Rana said on Friday.
Chairing a review meeting of the Fisheries Department, Rana said fish farmers would not be allowed to face any difficulty. They will get high-quality fish seed, and a separate market will be set up where they can sell their fish and shrimp.
He said the 2026-27 budget announcement offering power at a concessional 10 paise per unit to fish and shrimp farmers drawing electricity from agricultural feeders has now been implemented.
