Panchkula, June 26 -- In a major boost to public healthcare, the Haryana Government has approved procurement proposals and rate contracts worth more than Rs 18 crore to expand life-saving medical services, strengthen hospital infrastructure and improve access to affordable treatment for thousands of patients across the state.

A spokesperson of the Health Department said the approvals were accorded at the meeting of the Special High-Powered Purchase Committee, chaired by Health Minister Arti Singh Rao.

The biggest relief is expected for kidney patients, with the committee approving a Rs 2.40-crore tender to provide hemodialysis services in 16 Sub-Divisional Civil Hospitals under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
