Panchkula, June 17 -- The state government has amended the Haryana Village Common Lands (Regulation) Rules, 1964, empowering Deputy Commissioners to approve the leasing of Gram Panchayat land of up to 500 square yards to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and cooperative societies of SHGs for setting up dairy units.

Under the Haryana Village Common Lands (Regulation) Third Amendment Rules, 2026, notified by the Development and Panchayats Department, such land may be allotted through a draw of lots for a period of five years, extendable by another three years.
