Chandigarh, May 26 -- SGPC member Bhagwant Singh Sialka on Tuesday strongly criticised the Haryana government over granting parole to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, calling the move an insult to Sikh sentiments and accusing governments of adopting double standards on issues related to sacrilege cases and the release of Sikh prisoners.

Addressing the media, Sialka said repeated parole to Ram Rahim raises serious questions over the intent of both the Haryana government and the Centre. He alleged that a person accused in sacrilege-related controversies and convicted in serious criminal cases, such as rape and murder, was being given preferential treatment through repeated parole approvals.
