Panchkula, Aug. 29 -- As per the latest Railway Board developments, dependents of deceased or medically invalidated railway employees will not be disqualified from compassionate appointment solely for lacking the minimum educational qualification at the time of their initial application.

The Railway Board now permits their applications to be considered if the required qualification is obtained within the stipulated period.

In a clarification to all Zonal Railways and Production Units, the Railway Board stated that applicants who acquire the minimum educational qualification within five years from the date of death or medical invalidation may also be considered for compassionate appointment.
