Panchkula, July 19 -- In a major blow to interstate drug trafficking, Haryana Police has arrested a 60-year-old alleged drug smuggler and seized 22 kilograms of poppy husk (chura post) that was being transported from Rajasthan in a truck.

The accused has been remanded to five days' police custody as investigators seek to trace the source of the contraband and dismantle the supply chain.

According to a Haryana Police spokesperson, the operation was carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Panchkula Police as part of the special anti-drug campaign launched under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Pankaj Nain to curb the illegal narcotics trade.
