Panchkula, Aug. 1 -- Tightening the noose around the illegal mining network, Panchkula Police launched pre-dawn raids in the Raipur Rani area, seizing five vehicles allegedly engaged in illegal mining in a major crackdown against the mining mafia.
A spokesman of the Panchkula Police said today the operations were carried out with police teams striking two suspected illegal mining locations within an hour on Thursday.
In the first raid, conducted around 4 a.m. in the Tangri River area under Raipur Rani Police Station, police seized three tractor-trolleys and one tractor-loader allegedly being used for illegal extraction of minerals.
