Kaithal, May 28 -- District collector Aparajita today informed that with the aim of improving the groundwater level in the district and promoting water conservation, a target has been set to cultivate alternative crops in place of paddy on 7,200 acres of land in the district this year under the ambitious scheme of Haryana government, Mera Pani-Meri Virasat.
She urged farmers to contribute to water conservation by adopting alternative crops instead of water-intensive rice cultivation. She said that it is everyone's collective responsibility to protect water resources for future generations.
