Panchkula, July 22 -- A suspected cow smuggler was injured in an exchange of fire with the Nuh Police during an operation near the Ujina-Sangel canal embankment under the jurisdiction of Sadar Nuh Police Station late on Tuesday.
According to Haryana Police, the accused allegedly opened fire on the police team when they attempted to intercept him. The police retaliated in self-defence, during which the accused, identified as Irshad, son of Israil, a resident of Ward No. 14, Hathin, Palwal district, sustained a bullet injury to his left leg.
The injured accused was immediately shifted to Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College, Nalhar (Nuh), for treatment.
