Panchkula, Aug. 4 -- The Haryana Government has partnered with Ashok Leyland to set up the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) at Shahpur in Ambala Cantonment.
This 13-acre institute aims to train about 2,000 new drivers and offer refresher courses to nearly 20,000 current licence holders each year, helping build a skilled transport workforce and make roads safer across the state.
Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij said the institute will be set up by the Transport Department and Ashok Leyland, an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
He called the project an important step for road safety, skill development, and jobs, and stressed that the state wants to train drivers professionally, not just issue licences.
