Chandigarh, June 26 -- Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal has urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to preserve the autonomous status of the Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib Board, expressing concern over the state's proposed legislation governing the management of the historic Sikh shrine.
In a letter addressed to the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Badal appealed to the state government to withdraw the proposed draft law, stating that it could alter the existing autonomous character of the shrine's management. Her appeal comes after the Maharashtra Cabinet reportedly approved a proposal to repeal the Nanded Sikh Gurdwara Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib Act, 1956.
