Bengaluru, Aug. 17 -- KPCC Chief BK Hariprasad on Monday launched a sharp attack on the BJP and RSS over the controversy surrounding Vande Mataram, saying the Congress did not require a certificate on patriotism from an organisation that, according to him, had not sung the national song at its shakhas.

Speaking to reporters here, Hariprasad said there was no controversy and defended the response of the Vice-Chancellors on the issue.

"There is no controversy. They have given a proper answer. The RSS has given its answer at its own shakhas. I congratulate them for that," he said.
