Srinagar, Sept. 15 -- J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today expressed deep concern over the continued closure of the Srinagar-Jammu highway, saying if the Government of India can not restore it, the responsibility should be handed over to the state.

There is mounting anger among apple growers in Kashmir over the repeated disruptions of the national highway which has badly hit the fruit industry in Kashmir. The fruit growers today demanded resignation of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his failure to restore the highway.

"If this would have been my highway, I would have opened it. This highway belongs to the Government of India. If it does not work, then hand it over to us. I will send a team of engineers to fix it," Omar told reporters ...
