New Delhi, Sept. 5 -- GST Council reforms have set the stage for infrastructural growth with keeping the architecture, construction, engineering and operations industry at the central point of rationalisation.

The 56th meeting of the Council approved 18 pc rates on cement, 5 pc on labor-intensive goods such as marble, travertine and granite blocks, which are heavily used in construction or related industries.

Basically, 'Travertine' and 'Granite' blocks provide durable, strong and aesthetically pleasing materials for various applications like flooring, walls and facades.

The rate cuts on these crucial elements will smoothen the flow of construction-related activities in the economy.
