Sriharikota, Sept. 4 -- Amid rains, India's heavy rocket GSLV-F17, carrying advanced Earth Observation Satellite EOS-05 took off at 0255 hrs rom the SHAR Range here in ISRO's first mission after a seven month gap.
After a smooth 27.5 hr countdown, the rocket took off majestically from the all weather proof Second Launch Pad lighting up the dark early morning skies, belching orange fumes and with a rumble that shook the earth.
"Lift off normal", ISRO said.
